Overview

Purpose of Position:

This position will be responsible for providing EHS technical support and guidance to all global leadership teams in the development, implementation and maintenance of MSA’s Global Safety Processes.  This position will be based in the Corporate Center (Cranberry Township, PA) and will have visibility for all MSA manufacturing sites, distribution centers and field services.  Specific actions will include but not limited to conducting safety assessments and follow-up, metrics collection/tracking, developing/delivering training, working with teams on special projects as assigned. Global travel is a requirement of this position – approximately 35%. 

Responsibilities

  • Travel to select MSA locations, including manufacturing sites, distribution centers and field service locations to conduct comprehensive and systematic investigations and analysis of all aspects to health and safety associated with our operations.
  • Prepare written reports on the findings and recommendations, follow up with local teams to determine the effectiveness of the improvements, and assist in providing material support to close out action items.
  • Develop training materials associated with MSA's global standards.
  • Provide location-specific training, as well as guidance and support to ensure all associates understand hazards and the protective measures prescribed for their safety.(in-person and instructor-led, Webinar, eLearning).
  • Support the development and maintenance of MSA’s internal programs and standards that ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and MSA expectations pertaining to occupational safety and health. The process will include working with local MSA resources or 3rd party contractors to achieve ‘beyond minimum’ compliance and may include the development of MSA Global EHS standards (HazCom/GHS, Lock/Tag/Try, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, Electrical Safety, Hearing Conservation, Confined Spaces, Bloodborne Pathogens).
  • Create, maintain and continuously improve methods to gather, analyze, report and utilize performance data (numerical and non-numerical) to improve overall safety performance. This role will create new reports, make presentations, develop improvement proposals, organize best practices and communicate performance-enhancing safety information to MSA globally through the Global EHS team.
  • Provide input as an integral member of the Global EHS team on new initiatives, assist in the development of a roll-out strategy to socialize our efforts and be a part of the team to provide material support for local teams during implementation. 

Qualifications

Education Required:        

  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field or equivalent 4-year degree

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an ABET accredited safety curriculum or similar
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar certification
  • Certified Safety Professional or similar (or working towards certification)
  • MS or advanced degree in a related discipline

Experience Required:

  • Level II:  min. 5 years in an occupational safety and health mfg. role or equivalent
  • Level III:  min. 7 years in an occupational safety and health mfg. role or equivalent

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in light assembly manufacturing environment
  • Experience in global travel
  • Experience in a corporate environment and communicating with employees at all levels of the organization
