Overview

We are looking for an experienced Fall Protection Sales Manager with strong technical abilities to join our team.  Reporting to the Regional Sales Development Manager for Fall Protection Engineered Systems, you will demonstrate your sales expertise by driving the sales activities of MSA’s Fall Protection with special emphasis on Latchways Engineered Fall Protection systems.  As part of MSA’s new acquisition with recent expansion into Northern North America, this role will allow you to utilize your excellent Business Development and Outside Sales skills in a territory that encompasses the Gulf Coast including the states of TX, OK, AR, LA, AL, and MS. This is a team-selling position where you will serve as a subject matter expert on Fall Protection Engineered Systems to grow business, mentor and train other existing field sales associates to garner leads and eventually assist you within their territories.  Build a Rewarding Career and Help Make the World Safer, One Person at a Time.

Responsibilities

Description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Increase sales of MSA Fall Protection and Latchways Engineered Systems through scheduling appointments, meeting existing customers in order to review product requirements and to determine other opportunities.
  • Effectively design, plan and conduct professional sales presentations and product demonstrations of Fall Protection Products through on-site customer meetings, providing technical and application information.
  • Provide product quotes to customers as needed.
  • Generate and develop new business in order to increase revenue, through contacts of business leads and cold calling.
  • Liaise between the company and customers for up-to-date information on pricing, service and latest product release launches.
  • Continuously update customers and installers on company product modifications, changes, and enhancements.
  • Become familiar with and remain proficient on all product lines within the FP product group, and eventually serve as product expert or resource applying knowledge on the features and benefits of MSA and Latchways products as well as those of competitors to leverage competitive differences to gain sales advantage.
  • Effectively represent the Company’s Fall Protection business at events such as conferences and trade shows.
  • Use marketing data to maximize sales effectiveness and efficiency by using relevant sales management tools.
  • Organize and attend joint sales calls/on-site meetings with distributors and installers.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work for effective time and territory management.
  • Update and maintain CRM account and opportunity data.
  • Ensure follow-up after passing leads to managers with complete profile customer information, calls-to-action, sources, dates.
  • Monitor internal processes for efficiency and validity pre & post product launch/changes.
  • Provide support for other departmental projects as needed.
  • Interface extensively with operations, customer service, sales, marketing and field service organizations, and with external customers.
  • Prepare reports for sales and marketing and maintain expense reports.
  • Provide a high level of customer satisfaction and build customer loyalty within territory for repeat business and revenue growth.
  • Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the company in a positive manner.
  • Up to 75% travel within the assigned sales territory will be required.

Qualifications

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Demonstrated selling, customer service, and technical skills, including an ability to read, understand and communicate technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated capability of exceeding sales and profitability goals through business development, prospecting new accounts and prioritizing leads.
  • Proven ability to develop, organize and conduct product demonstrations, sales presentations, and technical training to large groups.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, with the ability to be both a self-starter as well as work compatibly within a team.
  • Strong forecasting and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication (including written and verbal technical and non-technical), interpersonal and management skills.
  • Ability to provide creative problem-solving in product and systems offerings to suit customer needs.
  • Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the company in a positive manner.   

Education and experience required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • This position is available at four different career levels based upon experience, education, etc:
    • Level one: 4 years sales experience – any industry
    • Level two: 5 years sales experience – any industry
    • Level three: 6 years industrial sales experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or educational academic equivalent.
  • Experience managing/selling through installer representatives.
  • Relevant sales experience in Fall Protection or related products in the aerospace, construction, building, general industry, OPG (oil, gas, pertrochem) or utilities and telecommunications market.
  • Familiarity with Fall Protection products and engineered systems and customers in the assigned territory.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
