The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for the continuous improvement and sustainment of a comprehensive, behavior-based EHS program in a manufacturing and corporate headquarters environment with emphasis on chemical based processes, printed circuit board and light assembly. This is a hands-on position as the incumbent will lead the safety champion, first responder, and ergonomic teams, support continuous improvements of the current safety program and drive new initiatives across the entire campus. The primary focus of this position is to promote behavior based safety to prevent illness and injury, and enhance protection from work related and environmental hazards in both manufacturing and a corporate setting. This position is based in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and the incumbent will report directly to the Plant Manager.  Travel required for this position is minimal.



  • Revise, maintain and deliver required EHS related training to include (but not limited to); chemical exposure, proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, ergonomics, LOTO.
  • The incumbent will develop follow-up processes / actions to ensure training is effective and compliance to regulations and internal policies. 
  • Revise and maintain the plant safety manual and develop new procedures as needed.
  • Lead the Ergonomics program by coordinating with plant industrial engineers and NPD teams to ensure ergonomics program is effectively addressing ergonomic issues, including; design, assessments, action plans, and follow-up.
  • Lead and execute the plant Safety Champion program.
  • Lead the First Responder team to assure evacuation, and medical emergencies are handled appropriately.
  • Revise, maintain the monitor the industrial hygiene program throughout the manufacturing areas. 
  • Provide communication and training as needed.
  • Lead and coordinate safety risk assessments for all existing and new equipment.
  • Lead and participate in incidents investigation to assure identification of all root causes and appropriate actions are taken. Create effective method for handling of routine reports and records.
  • Review and/or write all process or equipment Job Safety Analysis to assure elimination of potential safety risks.
  • Actively participation in the plant safety steering team to ensure ongoing effectiveness of all safety programs and development of new initiatives.
  • Maintain a well-organized safety audit program to identify risks and corrective actions. Ensure the ongoing effectiveness of program.
  • Coordinate with HR to provide safety orientation to all new hires. Follow up to address any questions or concerns.
  • Maintain existing LO/TO, HazMat and DNO programs, ensuring appropriate follow-up takes place. Review and evaluate processes as required.
  • Gather and analyze EHS data. Identify EHS opportunities for improvement while ensuring existing programs are followed and effective.
  • Complete annual environmental, hazardous waste, residual waste and OSHA VPP reporting.  Coordinate third party testing and manage regulatory audits.




Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Proven success in implementing and/or managing a comprehensive EHS program.
  • Familiarity with federal and state government regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively lead and contribute to multiple projects and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve safety related issues in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Ergonomics, HAZMAT, EPA, & OSHA compliance.


  • Knowledge of VPP. Industrial Hygiene, writing / implementing EHS policies and training, Workers Comp.This position is available at two different career levels, depending on experience, education, etc.



Education and experience required:

  • B.S. degree in EHS; Occupational Health, Environmental Management or related discipline , preferably from an ABET accredited safety program
    • 10 years relevant safety experience may be substituted for a 4 year degree
  • Level 2:   2 years of EHS experience in a relevant industry
  • Level 3:   5 years of EHS experience in a relevant industryPreferred:


  • Associate or Certified Safety Professional; Safety and Health Program Administrator

  • Certifications in OSHA 30 Hour and HAZMAT.
