Overview

We are seeking a hands-on supply chain specialist to work in our collaborative manufacturing and office environment in Lake Forest, California.  In this role, you will be responsible for scheduling production and maintaining the schedule through key metrics.  You will manage the MRP system to support existing and new requirements and adjust the schedule accordingly to accommodate changes in sales requirements, manufacturing capacity and material availability.  If this sounds like a great opportunity, then we want to hear from you!  Additional responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

  • Partners with sales and planning for forecasted sales to establish a feasible Master Production Schedule for top level loading into the MRP system.
  • Schedules and coordinates the efficient distribution of products in order to satisfy customer demand.
  • Reviews sales orders, manufacturing schedules and inventory control records to determine quantities of and delivery schedules for raw materials and purchased parts and assemblies required to sustain scheduled production.
  • Supports new product design launches to ensure raw materials & capacity to hit trial and launch date.
  • Organizes and leads a weekly master schedule meeting with plant materials management, finished goods and demand planning.
  • Analyzes inventory strategies and stocking levels to meet on-time deliveries.
  • Works with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and accuracy of shipment records.
  • Revises master production schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, materials, machines and equipment.
  • Tracks factory health metrics collaboratively with plant material management and finished goods staff to ensure execution to the master schedule.  Metrics include:
    • Purchase order schedule attainment, production order schedule attainment, on time performance of shipments to distribution center, days on hand targets at distribution center, corporate inventory targets, customer order on time delivery.
  • Monitors and directs MRP requirements to ensure timely release of jobs.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements

  • Possesses expert familiarity with Microsoft programs; ability to navigate SAP to write queries and create new reports.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Persuasive interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Initiative and innovation in identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the lead to drive change and process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MRP/ERP system.
  • Conveys and handles priorities with the right sense of urgency and importance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • This position is available at three different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
    • Level 1:  Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, business management or related field with at least 2 years of production planning and inventory control OR a high school diploma or GED equivalent with at least 6 years of experience in production planning and inventory control.
    • Level 2:  Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, business management or related field with at least 4 years of production planning and inventory control OR a high school diploma or GED equivalent with at least 8 years of experience in production planning and inventory control.
    • Level 3:  Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, business management or related field with at least 6 years of production planning and inventory control OR a high school diploma or GED equivalent with at least 10 years of experience in production planning and inventory control.

Preferred:

  • APICS certification
  • SAP experience
