Demonstrate your ability to create innovative solutions and drive change at MSA.  In this exciting hands-on, fast-paced Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering role you will manage projects and provide technical support for manufacturing process development, controls, startup, and continuous improvement. This position reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering.


  • Project Management of electro-mechanical equipment, tools, and fixtures programs for new and existing products, processes, and equipment to include cost estimation and justification
  • Project Management and design over-site of electro-mechanical equipment and test apparatus to include specification, development, design review, installation, qualification, and commissioning
  • Technical problem solving
  • Leadership in safety and ergonomics issues related to manufacturing processes


Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:

  • Mechanical and electrical principles for manufacturing equipment to assemble, test, and convey
  • General manufacturing processes for testing, fixturing, coating, molding, and stamping
  • Safety and Ergonomic principles and regulations
  • Quality testing and measurement techniques and procedures
  • Technical problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Lean Six Sigma & Continuous Improvement


Proven ability to:

  • Manage multiple projects, goals, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Pro-actively participate in cross-functional teams
  • Collect data to justify spending on capital and tooling projects
  • Communicate and gain consensus within all levels of the organization
  • Domestic and international travel is required; extent varies with project work



Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, preferably from an ABET-accredited institution
  • This position is available at two different career levels depending on experience, education, etc.
      • Level one (Staff III): 3 years minimum relevant experience
      • Level two  (Senior Level:) 5 years relevant experience


      • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience
      • PhD degree may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience
  • Preferred:
    • 2 years PLC or LabVIEW programming experience
    • Six Sigma black or green belt certification
    • EIT or FE completion
    • Advanced technical degree
