    MSA Global Logistics is looking for a dynamic logistics analyst to join our team.  Reporting to the Global Logistics Manager, you will be responsible to provide analytical support and coordinate North American transportation needs. Additional accountabilities include actively managing the freight payment process and coordinating the transport of components from internal and external sources to minimize total landed costs and to meet service requirements.  If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, then we want to hear from you!

    Responsibilities

     

    • Coordinate transportation activities with internal and external customers, including tracking and tracing as appropriate. Work with Procurement, Shipping, Customer Service and other MSA departments as needed.
    • Ensure that all transportation related concerns are resolved and communicated appropriately.  Interact with carriers to resolve issues and to drive efficiencies.
    • Expedite finished goods materials from suppliers to meet unforeseen changes in demand.
    • Obtain and extract transportation data and archive for future analyses. (Freight Payment, Parcel data, motor carrier, Air and Ocean Cargo data.)
    • Prepare transportation vendor scorecards for quarterly business reviews.
    • Perform post audit and file freight claims as necessary. Liaise with internal and external insurance contacts regarding claims.
    • Maintain transportation contract database and proactively monitor for contract expiration dates. Maintain, update and communicate carrier routing guide and holiday schedules.
    • Execute evaluation on shipment level freight bills to assure contract conformance.
    • Ensure records retention compliance according to regulatory and MSA guidelines.

    Level two:

    • Develop transportation processes to efficiently move and deliver our products to meet the customer’s expectations.
    • Use analytical capabilities to identify ways to reduce transportation spend while maintaining service levels.
    • Provide transportation related project support through analytics.
    • Support administration of the freight payment program with third party freight payment provider through a defined business process from pre-audit through actual payment of the bill.
    • Report transportation Key Performance Indicators and consistently publish results in a frequency defined by the business.
    • Conduct variance and financial analyses for service and quality.
    • Assist in negotiating and administering contracts for parcel and truck carriers.
    • Support NPD teams as it relates to transportation in support of new product introductions.

    Qualifications

    Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

    • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal relationship skills.
    • Proven analytical skills including working with relational databases.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Access, Power Point and Word. Advanced to expert level Excel skills.
    • Ability to travel domestically 1-10% of the time

    Education and experience required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Management Information Systems, or related field

     

    This position is available at two different levels based upon experience, education, etc:

    • Level one:  No experience needed
    • Level two: 4 or more years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Systems, or related field
    •  

    Preferred:

    • APICS or CSM certification.
    • Hands-on experience with SAP.
