  • Overview

    The Manager of Global Sourcing performs in a leadership role in a cross-cultural / multi-region setting to direct and implement a global sourcing strategy for MSA and reports to the Director of Global Sourcing. Specifically this position will focus on lowering company costs (increased positive PPV) and minimizing company risk through an all-encompassing sourcing strategy that starts with analyzing spend, determining optimal sourcing strategies, establishing competitive bidding, negotiation, and terms and conditions requirements, to achieve desired results. The incumbent will perform as a procurement consultant / advisor in driving sourcing / cost synergies.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct and implement the global sourcing strategy.
    • Build relationships with internal key stake holders to establish best sourcing solutions at both the regional and global level.
    • Develop global sourcing policies and procedures to drive consistency and optimal utilization of competitive bidding process, negotiations, and terms and conditions requirements to achieve desired results across all regions.
    • Implement programs to drive supplier development on a global basis to best in class status in regards to delivery, quality, supplier performance and cost synergies.
    • Review all global contracts and develop strategy for alignment and consistency to drive cost synergies.
    • Lead all Commodities and New Product Development initiatives.
    • Develop and implement a global talent management strategy with HR for Sourcing talent through effective recruitment, hiring, retention and development of key personnel.
    • Report on a broad array of information to established metrics.

    Qualifications

    Special knowledge, skills and abilities (required): 

    • Excellent and effective negotiation, a customer focus and effective communication.
    • Strong analytical abilities.
    • Broad knowledge of the procurement function as well as a high degree of knowledge of cost drivers, market dynamics, and supplier relationships in driving cost reductions.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence attitudes and behavior as well as facilitate change.
    • Proven leadership ability to coach associates, manage functional teams while promoting teamwork, delegation, individual responsibility and positive employee morale.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
    • 30% - 40% domestic/international travel may be required

     

    Education (required):

    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or other related discipline

    Education (preferred):

    • Master’s degree or MBA
    • CPM or CPSM certification

     

    Experience (required):

     

    This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:

     

    Sr. Manager:

    • 9 years procurement / sourcing experience
    • Experience with Strategic Sourcing, Negotiation, Supplier Evaluation, Commercial Contract Understanding, Risk Mitigation, Commodity Market
    • Research, Index Pricing or Total Cost Assessments.

    Manager:

    • 5 years procurement / sourcing experience
    • Experience with Strategic Sourcing, Negotiation, Supplier Evaluation, Commercial Contract Understanding, Risk Mitigation, Commodity Market
    • Research, Index Pricing or Total Cost Assessments

    Experience (preferred):

    • SAP knowledge and experience
