    We are seeking a dynamic Supply Chain Specialist to join our team.  Reporting to the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for scheduling work and placing purchase orders, negotiating with vendors, preventing material shortages and supporting other departments.  If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, then we want to hear from you.


    • Create and manage the demand plan that drives the workload of assigned production areas and suppliers to replenish the inventory to meet our customer’s delivery requirements.
    • Procure material from other MSA plants or vendors through good supply chain management techniques to maintain target levels of inventory to meet customer demand while efficiently utilizing inventory.
    • Procure material from suppliers by negotiating price, quantity, and delivery of material to ensure quality products are delivered to the Jacksonville plant to meet on time delivery to our customers.
    • Coordinate with the Materials Manager and Production Supervisors to determine ongoing production schedule and ensure this meets forecast and customer delivery expectations.
    • Search inventory records to ensure material and resource availability to meet customers’ orders and demand.
    • Expedite or defer material to meet unforeseen changes in demand to maintain on time delivery to the customer and efficient utilization of inventory.
    • Compile records of prices, delivery, and inventories of items purchased or items transferred between departments. Analyze these records from SAP to determine stocking strategies and utilize inventory effectively.
    • Regularly review the material master and on-time delivery reports to ensure the system is operating efficiently.
    • Assist MSA Jacksonville Materials Manager on development of the annual Jacksonville Site Specific Sourcing plan which outlines sourcing projects planned for the year as well as provides results of those sourcing projects. Undertake sourcing projects that result in cost reductions for Jacksonville as well as any other assigned cost reduction projects
    • Analyze material data in order to drive consolidation of spend by commodities / suppliers and determine the best mix of suppliers that will provide MSA Jacksonville with the leverage of volume. Using supplier scorecards, review suppliers based against pre-defined criteria in the areas of quality, performance and delivery. Areas of concern should be addressed with suppliers along with an appropriate action plan for resolution or removal.
    • Establish contracts with suppliers that are in alignment with the corporate terms and conditions.
    • Minimal travel 1-10%.

    • MRP experience


    • Knowledge of Microsoft Access and PowerPoint
    • SAP experience


    Education and experience required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, science or related discipline (Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Administration preferred) OR 4 years of supply chain experience including use of an MRP system OR APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) and 2 years of supply chain experience.
    • Minimum of 0-2 years of solid planning and/or purchasing experience.
