    Summary:

    We’re looking for a hands-on Plant Manager who will oversee the Production Managers, Assistant Managers, and Supervisors, regarding staffing, capacity, safety, supplies, quality and various standards (including ISO 9001).  The primary function of this role is to manage the operations of the entire production room, with a strong focus on production processes and efficiency.  This position reports to the Operations Manager.  If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, we want to hear from you!

     

    Responsibilities

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Maintain staffing to meet customer demand.
    • Coordinate with Production Managers, Assistant Managers and Supervisors to assign employees to tasks within the section.
    • Oversee and train Supervisors to adjust staffing to match workload, including balancing with Supervisors in other sections.
    • Oversee work of Production Managers and Assistant Managers.
    • Work with the Operations Manager and the Engineering Manager on issues relating to productivity, quality, safety, staffing, etc.
    • Review and monitor incoming orders and develop daily/weekly production plan based on capacity.
    • Ensure all employees are trained to perform the required job functions.
    • Be aware of equipment problems within each section and ensure that equipment is repaired in a timely manner.
    • Assist Supervisors, Managers and Assistant Managers in addressing employee issues, including issuing progressive disciplinary action, if appropriate.
    • Work with various other manufacturing and non-manufacturing departments to ensure proper implementation of new products, options, and product variations.
    • May assist in interviewing potential employees.
    • Enforce company policies and procedures, with emphasis on safety.
    • Attend and hold meetings as appropriate.
    • Maintain visual factory metrics.
    • Assist Supervisors in responses to audit findings.
    • Review section/department performance and work with staff to make adjustments to improve performance.
    • Ensure Supervisors are correctly posting section notices in a timely fashion.
    • Review productivity as compared to plant metrics and make adjustments as needed.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence attitudes and behaviors.
    • Excellent communication skills critical (within all levels of the organization) – excellent writing, presentation and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Web Browsers).
    • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
    • Proven ability to simultaneously and independently manage multiple tasks, solve production flow issues, lead projects and work effectively on cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to respond to multiple situations within a short timeframe.
    • Demonstrated skill in handling job assignments, dealing successfully with people at all levels of the organization, and achieving goals by working with other Managers and Supervisors.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.

    Education and Experience Required:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related technical field
       

    This position is available at three different career levels based on experience and education:

    • Level one:  Five years of production supervision or project management experience required, plus five years of production or related experience.
    • Level two:  Five years of production supervision or project management experience required, plus seven years of production or related experience.
    • Level three:  Seven years of production supervision or project management experience required, plus seven years of production or related experience. 
       

    Master’s Degree, advanced degree, or relevant military experience may be substituted for up to two years of supervisor and/or work experience;

     

    Education and Experience Preferred:

    • Master’s Degree or advanced degree
    • Experience in leading Lean, 6-Sigma, Continuous Improvement or EHS initiatives
    • Experience in managing others in supervisory roles (to include professionals, technicians, administrative and hourly personnel)
    • Multi-department, multi- shift experience
    • Experience in implementing new processes or initiatives
