  • Overview

    Evaluate, test and repair products following documented procedures to assure conformance to specifications and standards, complete written records of work done, and identify and documen non-conformances in piece parts, assemblies and test results.

    Effectively troubleshoot routine and unusual test failures to the subassembly level, occasionally consulting with more experienced technicians.

    Assist other technicians in troubleshooting as needed.

    • Test and repair units returned by customer to MSA - General Monitors factory specifications for current and obsolete products.
    • Complete service repair worksheet report, evaluation report and enter repair information into our ERP system.
    • Maintain current file of product changes and modifications.
    • Create and update Customer Quality Notification (CQN) information in SAP (ERP system).
    • Generate Service Notifications and perform receiving & shipping duties as required.
    • Provide production support as needed.
    • Perform offsite service calls as necessary, requiring minimal travel – national and international.
    • Monitor work to ensure Quality and continuously promote Quality.

    Responsibilities

    • Repair, modify, calibrate, adjust, and troubleshoot moderately complex instruments.

    • Perform initial evaluation by examining instrument and analyzing needed repairs. Crosscheck findings with customer comments, regarding instrument performance.

    • Prepare cost estimates for repair of instruments, prepare and submit documentation to Service Coordinators and/or customers regarding repair efforts.

    • Picks parts from the warehouse. Transfers material to shipping dock.

    • Pack and ship instruments according to customer specification, generate delivery notes and determine method of shipping.

    • Ensure that the instrument is received with the correct paperwork and maintain service order documentation for repairs performed.
    • Maintain relevant information in computer systems.

    • Complete and maintain associated paperwork.

    Qualifications

    Knonwledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Excellent spoken and written English skills.
    • Efficient with Microsoft Office, Internet & Adobe Acrobat. 
    • Ability to regularly perform work that requires magnification and distinguish among different color coatings on wires.
    • Proficiency in soldering
    • Proven ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, work instructions, and test procedures.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and repair electronic instruments devices, occasionally remotely over the phone.
    • Proven ability to understand standard units of measure and to set-up and interpret results of various measuring devices.
    • Ability to perform standard software operations including UPS and SAP.
    • Able to occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance.
    • Proven ability to use power and hand tools, and custom tooling.
    • Strong manual dexterity for use of tools and performing work on small components, requiring fine finger manipulation and hand steadiness.
    • Ability to work independently and complete multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
    • Solid ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with various levels of the organization and with customers.
    • Ability to handle/maintain various types of cylinders and regulators.
    • Ability to regularly perform work that requires magnification and distinguish among different color coatings on wires.
    • Ability to operate at a level that meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards for the work area.

     

    Required Safety Equipment:

    • Safety glasses ANSI Z87 approved
    • Steel toe shoes
    • Other PPE as required per Job Safety Analysis

    Educational Requirements/Work Experience:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • 1-2 year experience as an electronics technician. 

     

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Completion of two year accredited program in Electronic Technology.
