    The Public Relations Manager for Fire Service/Industrial at MSA is responsible for the development, execution and deployment of public relations strategies that support MSA’s product and customer marketing objectives. These strategies are focused on expanding awareness of and engagement with the MSA brand by securing third-party coverage of MSA product-related news and content, creating brand advocates via traditional and social media, driving customer engagement, and ultimately driving increased visibility, interest and demand for MSA core products.



    • Develop a proactive PR strategy for the fire service/industrial that is in alignment with our customer marketing go to market strategy, global in scope and increases awareness of the MSA brand.
    • Proactively pitch stories to the media and position MSA and company leaders as thought and industry leaders. Exhibit a sense of urgency to consistently identify strong stories to pitch to media to increase awareness and understanding of MSA’s product offerings.
    • Identify and execute short-lead, opportunistic PR activities with speed, agility and a results-oriented mindset.
    • Establish and cultivate relationships with influential print, digital, trade, and broadcast journalists, as well as thought leaders within the fire service/industrial landscape.
    • Draft press releases and other press materials relevant to product PR strategy.
    • Work collaboratively across the organization, at all levels, to own story development, thought leadership writing/placement and interview preparation.
    • Organize promotional events, including media days or press conferences.
    • Analyze media coverage and establish a regular cadence for reporting.
    • Assist in the creation and support of product-specific social media influencer programs that align with our overarching marketing strategy to drive awareness, acquisition and retention in key markets by leveraging the influencers’ audiences, voice and reach.
    • Assist in the identification of key social media thought leaders and influencers in the fire service/industrial space.
    • Assist in the development of strategic influencer campaigns as aligned with customer marketing strategy.
    • Support daily influencer relations activities, such as asset management, technical support and feedback evaluation
    • Monitor social media chatter and advise product and communications executive management of potential issues and opportunities.
    • Stay up to date on industry trends and hot topics; partner with customer marketing to stay aligned on product issues; prepare and deliver key messages when necessary.
    • Assist corporate communications function with writing support as needed.
    • Assist at customer events, trade shows, plant celebrations, etc. (influencer engagement/management).




    Experience/Education Required:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in public relations or communications-related field.
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal and project management skills that can be leveraged to develop relationships with key PR editors and influencers.
    • Strategic thinking ability as it applies to PR programs and placement strategies.
    • Experience in managing agencies and other outside vendors.
    • Experience in media monitoring and utilizing PRNewswire services.
    • Must be a self-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneously, has exceptional attention to detail and deadlines, excels in a highly collaborative team environmental and on his/her own.
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or 5 years of agency or corporate experience in related field

    Experience Preferred:

    • Awareness of the PR significance of social media increasingly important.
    • Knowledge of and experience with social media a plus.
    • Knowledge of fire service/ industrial product offerings and industry landscape a plus.
