MSA is seeking a highly motivated and results driven Supply Network Planner. This is a key role that ensures finished goods are available to fulfill customer demand while minimizing network inventory and supply chain costs; in essence, create a supply plan that supports the demand plan.  Collaboration with plant production is required to establish a level-loaded plan to effectively and efficiently align resources and support business strategies. This role is responsible for a longer-term planning horizon which can vary by plant.  If this sounds like an exciting opportunity, we want to hear from you.

 

Responsibilities

  • Utilize IBP Supply Planning S&OP module or SAP ECC, taking plant capacity into account, to create a realistic supply plan (constrained where necessary) to meet the demand plan and ensure availability of finished goods to fulfill customer demand.
  • Determine appropriate distribution stock levels based upon service expectations and supplier reliability.
  • Establish and maintain supply lead times.
  • Determine plant supply quantities to optimize plant efficiency and to minimize costs associated with transportation and inventory held at the distribution center.
  • Establish and maintain threshold quantities based on supply factors such as plant capacity and raw material availability.
  • Identify slow moving inventory risk and excess inventory to Customer Marketing and Finance.
  • Regularly review stocked materials at the distribution center and determine if product should be stocked.
  • Manage inventory in the Phase-In / Phase-Out process to ensure material masters are created in the appropriate plant and storage locations. Work with Marketing to determine launch quantities and appropriate stock levels for products being phased in or out.
  • Prepare appropriate information and lead monthly supply reviews with necessary stakeholders.  Escalate decisions made or decisions needed to the executive SIOP Review.
  • Evaluate any customer service expedite inquiries and communicate the business trade-off(s) if the customer expedite is supplied as desired.
  • Communicate planning risks such as required capital expenditures needed to sustain increased demand or potential line shutdowns due to decreased demand.
  • Create and maintain stock transport orders (STOs), monitor for past due STOs, monitor SAP exception messages, review I&O (scrap) and manage engineering change notices.
  • Maintain SAP master data which includes but is not limited to total replenishment lead time, MRP relevant material master data such as GR processing time, planned delivery time, lot size technique, lot size quantities or min/max, safety time indicator, safety days, safety stock, etc.

Qualifications

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Demonstrated innovative and technological mindset to ensure master data integrity and accuracy, seek out latest industry trends, road-map future technology and champion early adoption.
  • Sound ability to make data driven and analytical decisions by identifying trends and opportunities, making problems visible, and utilizing financial acumen to justify investments and influence decisions.
  • Proven success in challenging the status quo to drive continuous improvement promoting the use of root cause problem solving, valuing new ideas, inspiring others, and demonstrating effective use of change management principles.
  • Proven success in building partnerships, influencing others, and communicating effectively both in verbal and written form, seeking diverse perspectives, and strong emotional intelligence to enable cross functional collaboration.

 

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or related discipline.
  • This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
    • Level one: 4+ years production planning, finished goods, or multi-site network experience
    • Level two: 6+ years production planning, finished goods, multi-site or multi-region network  experience

Experience Preferred:

Level I:

  • Experience using SAP for production planning
  • Experience in rough-cut capacity planning
  • Experience in managing and analyzing finished goods and overall network inventory.
  • Production planning in a versatile manufacturing and distribution environment with a focus on low volume / high mix production and/or supply planning.

Level II:

  • All above plus strong analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to translate complex data into high-level scenario plans plus proven success in leading cross-functional discussions and projects without direct supervision.

CLTD, CPIM or CSCP accreditation preferred.
